Straddle Jump To Handstand

LEARN STRADDLE JUMP Entry to handstand either Freestanding or Wall Assist. Understanding the path of the legs, hips and shoulders during the movement is very important when learning jumps. Watching someone that can perform a very slow jump or straddle Press will help to breakdown the movement. You want the entry to send your energy up not forwards or backwards which is very common. The move can be seen in Yoga, calisthenics, gymnastics and hand-balancing but the technique can be quite different. Flexibility, Mobility, Strength, Control and Balance will all effect how your jump looks so you need to find your groove. Start with shoulders on top of hands pushing the floor away, bend the knees to lower the hips while keeping the shoulders in place. As you initiate the jump and the toes come off the floor straighten the legs, sweeping them out to pass through straddle finishing in a straight handstand. We can regress the movement by working partial range, wall assist for balance and eccentrics (down only).
